The mobile telecommunication increased faster than expected in the last seven years. It is a worldwide growth and it is nonrestricted of certain countries. An indication in many countries is the tendency, that the number of mobile phone holders overtakes the numbers of households which have internet access. That is one reason why the opportunity for everybody to take independence of time and location for granted (applications anytime and anywhere). Further the advance of mobile radio technology is revolutionised our possibilities of communication and collaboration. The user will get much more services and offers such as mobile internet or mobile business (mbusiness). The possibilities of mbusiness mean, that we have an increasing mobility, flexibility and more comfort of consumption independent of any time and location barriers. Therefore a lot of experts prognose mbusiness an excellent growth in the next years. But first of all it is necessary for companies to define a business plan for the implementation of any mbusiness strategy. Such implementation depends on the mobile network technique and what devices are suitable for the front-end application. The success of such mbusiness strategy depends finally on the communication infrastructure. In the following sections wireless techniques of Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11, GSM, GPRS and UMTS are specified.

The articles “Bluetooth for Personal Area Networks (PANs)”, “Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs)” and “Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs)” give you a review and no evaluation about the mobile communication technologies divided into the different network areas (PAN, LAN, WAN). In the future it is expected that Bluetooth will get a general standard interface of electronic devices. Therefore in a couple of years every mobile phones, laptops, PDAs ... etc. will be equipped with the Bluetooth technology. In practice the 802.11 WLAN is used for a wireless addition to wire LANs. Such a topology is realised with the view of more mobility and flexibility within the company. Furthermore the 802.22 WLAN standard supports all LAN-applications, networks and protocols. Therefore with a WLAN it is possible to use all TCP/IP based applications and services. Finally WLAN supports also a higher bandwidth than in comparison to the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) which has a less bandwidth. The keynote of this section includes that GSM systems do not fulfill the requirements of mobile business because it is only designed for voice communication. In the contrast UMTS will eliminate the weaknesses of GSM and will satisfy the desire to communicate anytime and anywhere. The fundamental condition for ubiquitous availability and mobile computing in the future.
